On Monday 15th April, Notre Dame went up in flames, destroying the steeple and the beloved landmark.

The blaze was discovered at 6.43pm and took 15 hours to completely extinguish by a team of 400 firefighters. Photos have shown that at least one of the famous rose windows has survived, however many others were destroyed in the fire.

On Wednesday, The Walt Disney Company revealed that they are donating $5 million to aid the reconstruction.

French President Macron revealed that he plans to have the cathedral rebuilt in the next 5 years, ready for the 2024 Paris Olympics.

He said: “We’ll rebuild Notre Dame even more beautifully and I want it to be completed in five years, we can do it.”

“It’s up to us to convert this disaster into an oppprtunity to come together… It’s up to us to find the thread of our national project.”
