Splash Mountain is an iconic ride at both parks. Originally based on the different stories of Song of the South, it’s soon going to be completely reimagined.

While Song of the South is already a great theme for Splash Mountain, it’s starting to become outdated in its messages and less and less people know about the film. So, we say goodbye to Br’er Rabbit, and hello to Princess Tiana.

With The Princess and the Frog turning 11 this year, it might be time to welcome the film into the parks more than the occasional meet and greet. Princess Tiana has been a role model for girls around the world as she became Disney’s first black princess. Not only this, but she inspired girls to work hard for what they want, like she does with her restaurant.

The ride picks up the story after the final kiss, where we can join Princess Tiana and Louis on a musical adventure – featuring some of the powerful music from the film – as they prepare for their first-ever Mardi-Gras performance.

And with this longstanding history of updating attractions and adding new magic, the retheming of Splash Mountain is of particular importance today. The new concept is inclusive – one that all of our guests can connect with and be inspired by, and it speaks to the diversity of the millions of people who visit our parks each year.”
