The recording will be available to view on the streaming service from July 3. The performance was due to be released in late 2021 however, has since been pushed forward due to the current global COVID-19 pandemic.
The recording took place at New York’s Richard Rodgers Theatre in 2016 across three performances, giving viewers the chance to see the original cast including Lin Manuel Miranda (who also wrote the musical), Christopher Jackson, Renee Elise Goldsberry and Daveed Diggs.
Disney’s Executive Chairman Robert Iger also shared the news on his Twitter account, stating that the musical’s message is both relevant and inspiring during the current climate.
