After rumours spiralled on the internet over the past week, it’s finally been confirmed that Ewan McGregor will be reprising his role as Obi-Wan Kenobi in a new Disney+ series.
The announcement was made during the Disney+ panel at D23 Expo, with Lucasfilm President Kathleen Kennedy confirming that the rumours were indeed true.
Ewan joined her on stage and revealed that after four years of saying he wasn’t sure if it would happen, he was finally able to announce that he would be playing Obi-Wan Kenobi once again.
Kathleen revealed that the scripts for the series were currently being written, with shooting expected to begin in 2020.
Ewan first played the young Jedi in Star Wars – Episode 1: The Phantom Menace, before continuing with Star Wars – Episode 2: Attack of the Clones and Star Wars – Episode 3: Revenge of the Sith.
