Over the years, Hasbro has unveiled numerous pop culture editions of its classic board game Monopoly, including Game of Thrones, Pokémon, Star Wars, Star Trek, Lord of the Rings, and Disney.

Now, in celebration of the movie’s 25th anniversary, Hasbro is releasing a brand new edition of Monopoly specifically based on Disney’s The Lion King. Armed with so many intricate details, including six detailed playing pieces of Mufasa, Scar, Simba, Nala, Timon, and Pumbaa, The Lion King Monopoly is set to be a must have for any fan of the iconic film.

Instead of the usual properties which are available to purchase, the ones on The Lion King edition are a mixture of classic locations and moments from the film. Beetles and grubs replace the standard hotels and houses, whilst the railroads are based on four animal herds: Rhino, Elephant, Antelope, and Wildebeest.

The two utility spaces have been replaced by Advisor properties featuring Rafiki or Zazu on them, whilst the Chance and Community Chest cards have been swapped out by 32 Destiny cards based on scenes from the film. Our favourite Destiny card is one with Scar’s iconic “Life’s Not Fair, Is It?” line on it, which leads to the player paying 50 Monopoly dollars to the banker.

If all of that wasn’t amazing enough, the game also includes a musical compact rendition of Pride Rock which, when pressed, plays ‘The Circle of Life’. It requires 2x AAA batteries, but the good news is that they’re already included so you can get playing straight away.

Speaking to INSIDER, senior director of global brand strategy and marketing at Hasbro, Jen Boswinkel said: “We know fans love pop culture integrations with their favorite games and with the 25th anniversary of the original motion picture and the release of the live-action film in July, fans will be clamoring for ways to celebrate the classic movie.”

Monopoly’s The Lion King Edition will be available Monday, April 22 at Walmart for $39.99 for ages eight and up and can be pre-ordered now. The game will be available at other retailers in June.

The new live-action remake of The Lion King will make its way to cinemas on July 19. A new full-length trailer was recently released, which you can check out below.
