Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween party is a special ticketed event that Disney put on selected dates throughout August, September and October. If you have never been to this event before, I would definitely have a look into going as it great and lots of fun for all ages!

This year, Disney has released some exciting new additions to the party and I was lucky enough to be in Walt Disney World whilst the event was on to check them out.

The Teacup lights

Different lighting and strobe effects were used on the ride which gave it a disco feel. It was a good addition to the ride. Compared to how the ride usually looks at night, it was a big improvement on colours and definitely caught your eye, a nice little touch.

Space Mountain in the dark

I felt like this was one of the scariest but best additions to the party. When riding the attraction, all the lights were turned off so you were riding in complete darkness and they changed the music in the ride to a galactic rock style.

Even though Space Mountain is a limited lighting ride normally, this was definitely was a lot more intense than usual as you could not see the directions you were going in. My best description on how the ride felt is that it was very similar to the Aerosmith Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster with the intense music and you didn’t have a concept of how fast you were going which made it very thrilling.

I wouldn’t recommend children who are scared of the dark or anybody who it not a ‘thrill seeker’ to go on this as some people could find it a bit too much and may not enjoy it. Overall though this addition to the party was a great idea as it really brings the Halloween theme to the party which I loved.

Live Actors in Pirates of the Caribbean Ride

Again, this was another great addition to the party this year as it really brought the ride to life. Whilst in the queue line to get on the ride, live actors set the scene and tell the story of ‘Gunpowder Pete’, how he is missing and we need to look out for him. This really made all ages excited, understanding that they had a quest to find a missing pirate whilst riding the attraction. ‘Gunpowder Pete’ then makes an appearance on the ride and interacts with you. This was definitely worth doing at the party and would suggest that if anybody is going they do not miss this, it really makes you experience the ride in a different way.

Storybook Circus Disney Junior Jam

Similar to the Monstrous Scream-O-Ween Ball in Tomorrowland, Disney World opened a new dance party this year just for younger children, which gives kids the opportunity to dance with some of their favourite characters from Disney Junior such as Doc McStuffins, Timon and vampirina.

Food Options

There was lots of different new food options this year for the party (and the parks for October):
– Jack Skellington Cake push pop
-Worms n dirt pudding
-Candy Corn Ice Cream & Candy Corn Milkshake – We got a chance to try the Candy corn ice cream which was delicious! Coming from someone who lives in the UK, it tasted a lot like toffee ice cream which was very nice and a great treat to cool off when it is very hot in the parks.
-No-So-Poison Apple Cupcake
-Pumpkin cheesecake
-Minnie witch brownie
-Hades Nachos
-Zero waffle sundae
-Hitchhiking ghost cake
-Oogie Boogie meringue
-Maleficent dessert
-Muenster smash burger

Overall, there are a lot of new great additions that Disney had brought to the Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party this year which has made even more worth wile going! If you are at Disney during Halloween i would highly recommend getting a ticket for this event as it is great fun for all ages and is honestly worth every penny!
